Step 001 | Make a Job Jar so that you can effectively give consequences. The book Common Sense Parenting: Using Your Head as Well as Your Heart to Raise School-Aged Children: 3rd editiondoes a great job explaining this.

Step 002 | For 2 weeks, describe your kids behavior 3x a day. For example, say “You are rolling your eyes” or “You did not complete your homework” instead of “Act your age” or “You are acting inappropriate.”

Step 003 | For 2 weeks, give one positive and one negative consequence for your kid’s behavior.

Step 004 | Maintain a 5:1 ratio of positive interactions to negative interactions with your kids for a week.

Step 005 | Keep all this going for an additional month.

After you do this, we know things will be better! Tell us how it goes.
